While there are a variety of laws in each state, the majority of online gambling is legal. There are a few exceptions, including some Native American territories.<\/p>\n<p>During the past couple of years, there has been a significant rise in gambling activity on Native American territory. Congress has created specific laws to regulate the extent of gambling on these territories. However, many of these regulations are not directly related to online gambling.<\/p>\n<p>A number of state officials have expressed concern that internet-based gambling may bring illegal gambling into their states. The concern stems from the possibility of a tax revenue spillover. To combat this issue, lawmakers need to examine gambling laws and pass legislation that addresses this problem.<\/p>\n<p>Federal legislation is designed to address the potential for criminal activity relating to online gambling. These statutes are designed to protect the integrity of the online gambling industry and ensure that the platforms are operated by reputable, responsible bodies.<\/p>\n<p>Federal law can also limit the types of gambling that are available, as well as the methods of gambling. For instance, unauthorized transportation of lottery tickets between states is prohibited by Congress.<\/p>\n<p>Another issue that has been raised is the extent of the power of Congress to regulate gambling. While Congress has used its Commerce Clause to regulate gambling, some question its power to do so.<\/p>\n<p>One area of interest has been whether the Commerce Clause grants legislative power to ban Internet gambling.
